fear factor development a lasting ambition
When I look at my inbox this morning, it is becoming increasingly clear to me that I have to develop some sort of fear factor.
When I started in big-bad-oil-and-gas, there were many people who you were just too afraid to approach, they just had fear factor, in their eyes, displayed on their desks and when they spoke, you prayed it wasn’t to you.
All of this has changed; we now have a culture of conversations, which is politely determined to work out how we can help you.
The biggest problem with being nice is that people take advantage, and in the work place, advantage fellow employee means more turdy emails for you to deal with, more meetings for you to endure and much, much, more number crunching.
When I was younger, I had ambitions of having an email address known as, talk-to-THOR-god-of-thunder@ruleroftheuniverse.com, - basically I wanted lots of fear factor. As of today it shall once again be a personal, medium-term, goal because these cretinous emails will soon be my undoing. I shall keep you informed as to my progress.
