302 in mid-tempo

Had a few days of rhythmic work effort, days where you simply get to work quietly and feel good because you have achieved something. You find your personal rhythm, which is something that's quite hard to find because open plan office environments are littered with disruptions and noise, so your inertia is at best 'bitty' (not the Little Britain bitty) it's sparse and there isn't a rhythm to doing the work.

When I can't find that work groove, it's hard, I am easily distracted by my access to other media sources, newspapers, television (in the pause areas) and the internet, which results in me only getting things done when I encounter that pressure to get it done - the work then feels laborious and unnecessarily hard.

Has it got anything to do with enjoyment? Very little I reckon , I am not thrilled at setting up an agenda for a very important team meeting or writing minutes for an Executive review but when you are on a roll this feels effortless, your subliminal conscience takes over.

So it's been a good few days in that regard, I found a focus and went with the inertia but it's Friday so that curve which was progressing upward, plateauing (once I hit that groove) is now declining and I am beginning to think about Friday evening drinks and hanging out.

James Neophytou, is in the Americas doing some preliminary needs analysis on a potential project in big-bad-oil-and-gas and his blog today has a few classic, "Colorado one-liners," I will only pinch two the rest you can get at by accessing his blog.

Have a good weekend and be safe, maybe walk the stores and begin to think about that Christmas list, the decorations are malling up and it's only week one of November.

Footnote for a regular reader :
- get your post and have a good meeting on Sunday.
