a glorious reference point in the employment contract

I have been tasked with reworking two job descriptions, it's a thankless task but a necessary evil in the medium to long term. Sometimes 'that stitch in time,' is not as obvious as you think but I know that this is a glorious reference point in the employment contract - your very own corporate personal brief.

The reason that it's a thankless task is that it requires tact, patience and precision. The diction needs to be specific but equally vague, so that when the employee actually refers to the gobbled- de-gook, they know what thay need to do tomorrow but won't have a leg to stand on if you asked them to "think and ACT outside of the box."

My job description contains the following catch phrases:

  • A demonstrated skilful application of an awareness and ability to willingly take the lead when needed;
  • A demonstrated skilful application of the ability to work with others to make a real difference;
  • A demonstrated skilful application of the ability to make informed and effective decisions;
  • A demonstrated skilful application of the ability to create innovative solutions to business challenges.
No the role doesn't come with a cape although it might, I just haven't received the training yet.

The task though has been completed and admittedly I have done unto others as the corporate has done unto me. But before I embarked on this bit of "reworking"I thought that I would cherry pick the past, do a bit of CTRL C - CTRL V of the knowledge bank and while it worked, I frivolously ended up at http://www.ehow.com trying to find out:

  1. How to write a job description;
  2. How to increase my popularity;
  3. How to disappear;
  4. How to fall in love and;
  5. Finally how to blog.

A great ditty of a site which put the smile back on my face and since I also need to be able to:

"...demonstrate a skilful application in the ability to work in ways that achieve remarkable performance..."

it was totally acceptable.
