a posh third world footnote

In my world there exists this perpetual struggle between all things homogenous and everything individual. My natural inclination is towards individualism but I am constantly drawn to the homogenous side of life. So whilst I spend my life habitually trying to differentiate myself from mainstream society, I am still very appreciative of homogenous ,white-picket, fence values.

The one thing, though that we constantly overlook is this special place that we call our home, automatically differentiates "us" from the rest of society whether we choose to embrace it or not, it does in some way anchor our existence.

Sometimes you only realise how lucky you are when you hear strangers lyrically talk about your home, the place to which a part of you belongs. Last night I was fortunate enough to be in the company of two first generation New Yorkers who were both born in Jamaica but who have spent the last four years in Cape Town.

JN ( http://jamesneophytou.blogspot.com/ - " The Music of Chance") blogged about the headlines he heard whilst driving into London and was thankful that, that was where he resided. I know where he is coming from but some days though it only takes a couple of strangers for you realise that the posh third world isn’t as bad as what the news of the day makes out and that being African is tres cool.

A special footnote to, two special people here’s hoping that the 14th day of September treats you well.
