konvergence - kafuffles and krazy trends

Been promised that my latest IT kafuffle - my broken laptop - will very shortly be fixed.

For this to happen in the first week back just when I put that coin into the machine and the game was about to begin is a bit hard to swallow.

The office is only at 50% capacity and the hardest decision that I have to make is whether or not I choose to surf the internet or get Excel eyes - when the font is arial 8, the view is 75% and you look like Clint Eastwood ready to draw a gun after a few hours of staring at the screen.

So what does one do when the machine's on the blink and you still have to give it up for tha man, well I plonked myself down at the pause area and spent many hours leafing through magazines, all unfortunately IT in nature.

But let me save you the trouble and summarise a few potential storylines which may creep into 007's gadgety, advertising rich, reality.

Advertising will begin to grow teeth, blue teeth, so don't be surprised if you walk into a store and your mobile receives a "special" offer. The technology is mature and stable enought to comfortably message to any device within a 100m . And as long as there is something in it for you and the inevitable novelty factor, then this may become a prominent cheap messaging medium in stores, bars and restaurants.

Mobile tellie, I kid you not, it looks like more effort will now be put into content provision and how to turn this into a profit centre, the devices are there, the medium for the message is fast maturing and now it's simply a case of thinking about what we want in our RSS tellie style feeds. Tellie and advertising made for the mobile market, I remain skeptical but Virgin are moving into the content provision side of it so who knows, it may just break through.

Finally the blogsphere maybe changing as advertisers get off their lard arses and begin to proactively place threads and spawn discussions, thereby enabling seductive product placement, seductive credibility building and ultimately a convergence with mainstream television and radio. Very shortly they won't be saying to you, please email us, but please go and add your comment to our blog, you may even be able to win a prize, for doing just that, look out for the push, push, push.

And because I like balance, yes I recently acquired a Pilate's stick, I did notice that Martin Score-see-see has a new blog-buster and Itunes exclusively have the new Blue Six single, Tropicalia, the first single off the soon to be released second album, could the album of the year be out in January I wonder?
